The Aquapioneers Ecosystem is a thoughtfully crafted fun, educational, and rewarding experience.
At the intersection of hardware and ecology, iIt allows you to grow fresh and tasty food all year round. This little piece of nature, will engage and inspire you, your family and your friends.
Through the power of digital manufacturing we can turn any standard 50-litre aquarium into a self-sustaining ecosystem. We designed the Aquapioneers Ecosystem to have the simplest setup possible. Easy to assemble, it snaps together in just minutes without screws or glues. Our system is a wooden structure that consist of three major components: the legs, the grow-bed, and the light.
Compact design and easy to assemble
Aquaponics employs the same principles as the natural world.
Think about it — fish and plants can harmoniously coexist in the same ecosystem. As fish mature and produce waste, plants use that waste as their nutrients to grow, thereby also cleaning the tank’s water.
The result: A symbiotic relationship that grows healthy plants and happy fish, while producing zero waste! So why not put those fish to good use?
Its open source design (CC-BY-NC 4.0) has been thought to be manufactured by maker labs – specifically Fab Labs, a network of more than 1,100 maker spaces around the world
With the download files, you can go to the closest workshop to make your own Aquapioneers ecosystem using a CNC router. These are common machines, available in most urban areas. Use the links below to find a local workshop that can make your kit:
With this system in place, your kit is made on demand and only transported that ‘final mile’ from workshop to your workspace.
